Difference between adding events for Custom Controls and for Standard Controls?
I have no experience in designing controls so this might seem like a dumb question.
What is the difference between having events for a custom control and an ordinary control?
A:
A custom control would have the advantage that you would have access to the original control, which you could set whatever events you wanted to. Also, if you registered a second event handler on a custom control, you could overwrite the original handler, if you wanted.
For example:
ToggleButton tb = new ToggleButton();
tb.Click += new EventHandler(tb_Click);
tb.Click += new EventHandler(tb_Click_2);
There is not much more to it than that. In fact, by design, you should not add additional events on a control you have created yourself, because it could very well be that the control itself does not support the event you have added.
That is why it is recommended to use the predefined controls and let the framework take care of the events.
