You can also do binary read/write with this widget.
Hex Display has 4 functions, 1. Open a file to display the contents.
2. Save the file to the desktop as a.bin file.
3. Open a file to display the contents.
4. Save the file to the desktop as a.hex file.
Hex Display Features:
1. Hex display.
2. Binary input.
3. Binary output.
4. Desktop store for.bin and.hex files.
You can move the.bin and.hex files to a computer and edit them.
You can also open.bin and.hex files in Hex Display and see the hex values.
A PHP function is an object oriented way to write a generic function in php.
It takes in two values and returns a value.
In this tutorial we will show you how to create a PHP function to convert a value into hexadecimal.
We have the function created and working, but we still haven’t explained why we are doing this.
Why We Are Creating a PHP Function for the Hex Display Widget
The Hex Display Widget can display the contents of (binary) files as hexadecimal coded bytes.
It also demonstrates the use of the embedded binary file input/output functions which are available for use in other Widgets.
You can use the hex display widget as a Binary file display widget.
If you click the hex display widget and select a binary file, the hex display widget will show the contents of that binary file.
Hex Display Example:
Let’s say you have a binary file which is basically a picture.
You can open the binary file in the hex display widget, and you will see that there is a picture in there.
If you were to open a binary file in a text editor, you would see that the picture is there.
Hex display in action:
If you click the hex display widget, you can choose any binary file to display the contents of that file.
Let’s say you want to use the hex display widget to display the contents of a binary file which is a picture.
When you choose that file, you will see the picture in the hex display widget.
If you want to save the picture, we need to save the picture as a.

Academic honesty is an ethical principle in higher education that requires students to be honest and accurate in their work and to be careful and responsible about the information they put into the public domain. The Internet is a mechanism for the free flow of information in the form of information exchange on message boards and in the form of the World Wide Web. It is a free-for-all in which a range of ethical issues come into play. Internet use includes many potential dangers for students, ranging from those faced by the user to those faced by the user by others in his or her community. The purpose of this chapter is to educate students on ethical Internet use and safe Internet behavior.

What is a binary file?
A binary file is a text file which contains binary data that is in a
standard form that can be read by the computer. In the computer,
each byte is referred to by its numerical position, and each byte is
represented by an 8-bit binary number. For example, the number 255
represents the byte with the hexadecimal value 0xff, the number 30
represents the byte with the hexadecimal value 0x04 and the number
0010 0000 0110 0000 0100 0000 is the binary representation of the
letter E.
You can use the bit-by-bit copy functions (struct bfile.read() and
struct bfile.write() for input and output, respectively) to access the
file as a string of bytes, rather than as a file whose content is
interpreted as text.
You can also use functions to find and count the number of bits in a
byte, and the number of bytes in a file.

How does Hex Display Widget work?
The Hex Display Widget is divided into 3 parts:
File Input/Output: Read a file as a byte string and return the file size and the number of bytes in the file. Also, this part is a demonstration of the use of the embedded binary file input/output functions.
Hex Display Area: The area of the display widget where the hexadecimal bytes of the file contents will be displayed.
File Containers: A container for holding a sequence of bytes. This is used for copying the file contents to another file.
Please look at the source code (Get Hex Display) to see the implementation.
The Hex Display Widget also provides user-level access to the internal functions which you can use in your own widget code:
The read_file() function returns the number of bytes in a file and also the file size as a long type.
The read_bytes() function returns the number of bytes in a file as a string.
The write_bytes() function returns the number of bytes written to a file.
Please refer to the source code of Hex Display for more details about how these functions work.
The Hex Display widget is based on the example of ks3_display_bin_file()
code for the KS3 Display Widgets.
